In today’s date approximately 3,08,102 people in the world are been diagnosed in 2022.
Type of Tumor 5-Year Survival Rate
Pilocytic astrocytoma About 95%
Diffuse astrocytoma About 80% to 85%
Anaplastic astrocytoma About 25%
Glioblastoma(GBM) About 20%
How is brain cancer diagnosed?
o Computed tomography(CT)scan
o Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
o Nuclear medicine bone scan
o Positron emission tomography (PET) scan
Early Signs and Symptoms
Brain cancer shares many signs and symptoms with list of less serious conditions, especially in the early stages. Symptoms of brain cancer depend which parts of the brain are affected and which functional systems are involved.
o Weak Muscle
o Severe Headaches that are usually worse in the morning
o Difficulty in walking and thinking
o Abnormal eye movements
Risk factors for brain cancer may vary. The cause of brain cancer is still largely unknown and it can cause Brain Damage. Some genetic conditions and environmental factors contribute to the development of brain cancer, It is too low defined for brain cancers in the body. It will result in forming brain cancer is very less. Stroke (Brain clot) occurs due to a loss of blood flow to the brain. This may be the result of a blood clot or a bleed in the brain
Risk factors for brain cancer :
o genetic brain cancer
o Long-term smoking
o Working with elements that can cause cancer, like lead, plastic, rubber, petroleum, and some textiles
o It will compress the optic nerve, affecting the greater loss of eyesight .
Reduction risk of brain cancer
There’s no way for prevention of brain cancer, but you can reduce risk by avoiding:
o exposure to pesticides and insecticides
o exposure to carcinogenic chemicals
o unnecessary radiations
o Imaging tests: MRI is commonly used to help diagnose brain tumor. Sometimes a dye is injected through a vein in your arm during treatment.
o Neurological exam : A neurological exam may include, among other things, checking your
vision, hearing, balance, coordination, strength and reflexes.
o Surgery : It is the removal of the tumor and some healthy tissue during an operation. It is the
only treatment needed for a level of brain cancer. The starting treatment used for a brain
o Radiation therapy : A doctor who specializes in giving cancer treatment uses high doses of
radiations to kill cancer cells.
o Treatments using medication : Therapy using medication are used to break off cancer cells. When a drug intake is given in this way, it is called systemic therapy.
Types : Chemotherapy and Targeted therapy.
Metastatic (Secondary Brain Cancer)
Final stages of brain cancer metastasis :
Reduced food intake and darken urine production also are symptoms that can occur during the final stages of brain cancer.
Example : The patient’s activity may transform and he may become distressed more easily. He may also become quite and suicidal. If organic compounds are used it can lead to over weight and appearance may change.
